About the role
Help shape the moment-to-moment experience of Moonshot's imagined adventure worlds. Your focus is the connection between a player's intention and the choices a scene makes possible: approaching a guardian, finding a route through a forest or returning to a familiar camp. Work from a clear experience goal, build a small playable example and use what people actually do to guide the next revision. This role centres on encounters and exploration rather than economy balancing or visual asset production.
What you will do
- Design encounters with readable goals, meaningful alternatives and a clear rhythm between discovery, challenge and recovery.
- Block out spaces and prototype interactions so the team can evaluate a journey before committing to finished artwork.
- Plan playtests, observe where players hesitate and turn specific findings into practical design changes.
- Write concise design briefs that explain the intended experience, important rules and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with artists, animators and developers to preserve player clarity as a prototype becomes a finished scene.
What you will bring
- A portfolio of playable work that shows your contribution to encounters, levels or exploration systems.
- Confidence building and revising prototypes in a game engine, with an understanding of implementation constraints.
- The ability to distinguish an unclear instruction from an uninteresting decision when reviewing playtest behaviour.
- Clear communication, a willingness to revise your assumptions and respect for different ways of playing.
What to include in your portfolio
Share a short playable project or a focused video walkthrough. Explain the intended player decision, one observation from testing and the change you made in response. Include your individual contribution when presenting team work.
